2025 Community Bowl Flag Football Rules
Objective
The goal of the Community Bowl is to bring together players, families, and supporters through friendly competition, teamwork, and community spirit. The tournament promotes sportsmanship, fitness, and giving back to the community through an inclusive and enjoyable flag football event.
Equipment
- Each player must wear a flag belt with two clearly visible flags on each side.
- No metal cleats or spikes allowed.
- Football size: Adult Size Regulation
- Mouthguards are strongly recommended.
- No hard pads, helmets, or jewelry.
Giving Back
Each participating player will be responsible to bring in at least a 12 pack of new LONG socks which will be donated to local homeless shelters.
If you cannot bring in a new 12 pack of socks we will also accept a min $25 donation to help us buy the socks on your behalf.

Registration
- Each team must register all their teammates via the registration below.
- Each team must pay the registration fee ($70).
- Each player must sign and acknowledge the Community Through Sports Liability Waiver.
Recommendations
- Strongly suggest cleats to all participants
- Flags, Cones and field set up will be provided. We will have footballs but feel free to bring your own.
- Bring water to stay hydrated and warm clothes. Temperatures tend to fluctuate during November.
Team Structure
- Roster Size: Each team should have minimum 6 players to maximum 10 players on each team.
- Players on Field: 6 players on the field per team (standard for 6-on-6 flag football).
Substitutions
Unlimited substitutions allowed, but only during stoppage.
Game Duration
- Game Length: Each game is 50 minutes long with two halves (20 minutes each).
- Half-Time: 10-minute halftime break.
- Mercy Rule: Team winning by at least 6 touchdowns.
- Clock: Running clock except for the last 2 minutes of the second half.
- Time Outs: Team will have two time outs each half.
- Overtime: Sudden death overtime in case of a tie. First team to score wins. Rock Paper Scissors will determine the Receiving/Defending.
Field Layout
- Dimensions: Standard field size is 30×70 yards, with 10-yard end zones.
- First Downs: Three 10-yard segments for first downs to keep the game moving.
Scoring System
- Touchdowns: 1 Point
- Interceptions: Defense can return interception for a touchdown or a change of possession.
- Fumbles: No Fumbles, ball will be down at the place where the ball landed.
- No Field Goals or Kickoffs: Start possessions from the 5-yard line.
Gameplay Rules
- Snap Count: Ball must be hiked from an offensive lineman from the line of scrimmage.
- Blocking: Blocking is allowed at the line of scrimmage.
Pass Rush
Rush allowed after a 5-second count.
Conduct & Fouls
- Flag Guarding: Not allowed; results in replay of down.
- Roughing: No tackling, holding, or shoving. Physical play will result in EJECTION.
- Sportsmanship: Unsportsmanlike conduct can result in EJECTION.
- Penalties: Call your own fouls, Rock/Paper/Scissors if both teams can’t agree.
Single Elimination Format
- Brackets: Teams advance by winning each match, and a loss eliminates them from the tournament. Single elimination.
- Seeding: Randomized seeding.
- Championship Game: The final match decides the tournament winner.
- Champion will get a Champagne Experience!

Unsportsmanlike Conduct
Players are expected to maintain good sportsmanship and respect for the game, opponents, and officials. Unsportsmanlike conduct can result in ejection from the game. No Refunds.
What time does the event start?
The Community Bowl – Flag Football Tournament registration begins at 8 AM with the first game starting at 9 AM.
How long is the event?
We will begin at 9 AM sharp and the event typically runs until 12 PM
What is the cause of this event?
Each participating player will be responsible to bring in at least a 12 pack of new LONG socks which will be donated to local homeless shelters. Feel free to reach out if you are interested in being part of the donation.
Is this event Co-Ed?
We welcome all genders to participate, mostly men have played in the past, but we encourage women to join.
Is this a 21+ event?
All ages are welcomed, you will receive apple cider as your “champagne experience” if you win the tournament.
What should I bring?

Is parking available?
Yes parking is available. Arrive early to acquire parking directly in front of the playing field! The closest intersection is Colorado Blvd. & E. 23rd Ave.
Are there bathrooms?
Yes, bathrooms will be available via Port-a-Potty. If you would like a more private setting, we recommend the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.
Will there be food available?
We will have cinnamon drink (Canela) available for all participants at who play in the tournament.
What is the cost of the event?
$70/per team and each player is responsible to bring in a 12 pack of Long Socks for the donation.
